The Advocate Program was pleased to be a sponsor of a statewide conference held at Buffalo State College on Feb 9 & 10, 2012, “Moving Beyond Mandates: Adjudicating Sexual Violence on Campus.” More than 25 colleges and university professionals from across the New York State attended to share best practices in implementing sound campus judicial board sexual assault hearings, implementation of Title IX requirements as they relate to sexual harassment and sexual assault, implications of the “Dear Colleague Letter” sent out in April 2011 to national colleges and universities from Vice President Joseph Biden on sexual assault on campuses, and clarification on the Clery reporting act. The Advocate Program’s very own Brandi Sutherland opened the conference with a powerful presentation and the Advocate Program along with the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program had displays available. Many thanks to the organizers of this successful conference – our colleagues at Buffalo State College, the University at Buffalo, and SBI Health Education.
